Writing World Update & Apology
It’s been a long time since I touched social media or did anything in the writing world. For those of you that I used to talk to quite often, I apologize for just disappearing. For those who follow me, I am also sorry.
Back in February, I went back to working in the hospital. For those of you who know me, this was a very difficult decision for me to make. About five years ago, I had worked in the hospital as a nurse. I have worked at three different hospitals since graduating with my nursing license. What I discovered while working in the hospital is that it’s not the best environment for my personality. At the time, though, I didn’t know that meant it wasn’t a great place for my neurodivergence.
Desperate not to let my nursing degree go to waste and really wanting to try again in the hospital after getting diagnosed with autism, severe OCD, generalized anxiety, and major depressive disorder, I went back to the hospital.
Being back, I quickly learned that I couldn’t do both the writing community and my nursing career. I couldn’t balance them both. I couldn’t focus on both. And I couldn’t do well in nursing if my heart was still in writing.
Another thing I discovered is that working two jobs that were very hard on my mental health was destroying me. Those of you who write know that being part of the writing community can really take a mental toll on you. This was another reason I had to step away from the writing community.
After six months of being back in the hospital system, I still don’t feel the most confident (with my coworkers/not my skills), and my mental health is constantly in turmoil. Even after announcing to my coworkers that I am neurodivergent, nursing is still very hard. I am a fabulous nurse who has saved so many patients’ lives and protected my patients. However, I am still struggling with my tone as an autistic person. With that being said, I need to focus even harder on my nursing career and will continue to stay predominantly away from socials and the writing world. I am determined to make my nursing degree count and to thrive in my career.
But…
You see…
I have a problem…
Four and a half years ago, I started writing my first book, A Bond of Blood and Lavender (ABOBAL). I didn’t stop there. By 2023, I had finished four more books. But I needed to get them edited, get covers, character art, and so much more. I wasn’t ready to publish them. Once I published ABOBAL in June 2025, I figured my next book would follow in three to six months, but then I started to search for a nursing job, my mental health went downhill, and it just got away from me. I know that I need to continue to put my mental health first and focus on my nursing career, but I have to publish these books. I lost friends, money, time, vacation, and so much more while writing these books. I can’t let all of that go to waste.
So, I’m sort of back for now to announce my next four books. As of now, these will probably be the last books I write. And I hope you all enjoy them. I loved writing them, and I enjoyed the time I was part of the writing community. I met a lot of amazing people. Two of my three best friends I met through the writing community, and I wouldn’t be where I am without them. I love them. So thank you, everyone who has been on this journey with me. Thank you for reading my books. Thank you for everything you’ve done.
Farewell, for now. 😊
